King Willem-Alexander opened new Enexis headquarters
In addition to the opening ceremony accompanied by music, His Majesty also had time for a tour of the brand new premises, which included a showing of the training case that Faes developed especially for them. He thus provided "a crowning glory to our work"!
How was it that special attention was paid to the case? Of course, the core activities of Enexis took center stage during the opening, which also addressed the importance of good employee training. And let this be exactly the reason why Enexis Training & Education contacted us a while ago.
An educational tool
The function of the suitcase is twofold; the intention was that it could be used in their training center, in order to introduce (new) staff members to the technology of the energy world in a visual way. In addition, they wanted the suitcase to playfully introduce children to the technical aspect of energy connections. After all, there is a large and ever-increasing demand for good personnel within the (electro)technical field, so it is important to get young people excited about a technical profession now.
Training case to visualize technique
Together with Enexis, we looked at the curriculum and the required training functions and created a design. The idea was that students or employees could simulate the construction of energy networks in neighborhoods and, for example, also learn to troubleshoot. So we mapped a residential neighborhood – complete with houses, businesses, streets and windmills – visually and in a playful way and integrated this including electricity into a stylish, professional case.
From Enexis, the importance of a high-quality yet lightweight case was emphasized. For this reason, an aluminum model was chosen as the basis.
Working electrics in the case
Faes provided the inside of the case with complex wiring and connections. To mimic reality, the entire residential area can be supplied with electricity by connecting this wiring. So during training and education sessions, the instructor from Enexis can go and make the connections with his students. After this, results can also be seen immediately, such as working street lighting by connecting a wind turbine.
The integration of electrics into such a case is what we at Faes call System Integration.
Also looking for a case with integrated electrics?
In the case of Enexis, we applied System Integration for a training case, but there are many other applications that can be imagined where built-in electronics add great value.
Are you, like Enexis, also looking for a suitcase equipped with electronics and for an experienced partner who thinks along with you? Leave your question in the form below or contact us directly.
